Who we are
Salama Foundation is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to improving access to quality healthcare and providing humanitarian assistance to underserved and vulnerable communities in The Gambia.
Our vision goes beyond providing basic healthcare. We are working toward the development of the Salama Health Center in Brufut, a modern healthcare facility designed to provide essential medical services while progressively expanding access to diagnostic technology, inpatient care, and treatment services that may be limited or difficult to access locally.
For families who need services that are unavailable locally, seeking care may mean traveling outside The Gambia. We want to help change that.

Founded by a physician with roots in The Gambia.
Salama Foundation was founded by Dr. Fatou Bin Ndure, a physician and healthcare professional with experience spanning clinical medicine, patient safety, pharmacovigilance, and clinical research. Her healthcare experience and connection to The Gambia shaped a vision for an organization that would not only provide assistance but also help develop sustainable healthcare capacity.
Our mission is broader than building a health center. It is about strengthening healthcare capacity and providing compassionate humanitarian support so that vulnerable communities in The Gambia can access quality care, essential relief, modern diagnostics, appropriate medical technology, and increasingly advanced treatment closer to home.
