Salama Foundation is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to improving access to quality healthcare and providing humanitarian assistance to underserved and vulnerable communities in The Gambia.
Our Story
Salama Foundation was created from a deep commitment to improving healthcare access in The Gambia. The vision was inspired not only by the need for affordable everyday healthcare, but also by a larger challenge: some patients who need certain diagnostic procedures, medical technologies, or treatments may need to seek these services outside the country.
For families who cannot afford the cost of international travel and medical treatment, accessing the care they need can become extremely difficult. Salama Foundation was created to help bridge this gap by strengthening healthcare capacity within The Gambia, expanding access to essential services, introducing appropriate modern medical technology, and helping make more diagnostic and treatment options available closer to home.

We believe that a person's ability to receive needed medical care should not be determined by where they live or whether they can afford to travel abroad. Salama Foundation seeks to contribute to a healthcare future where patients have greater access to high-quality services within their own communities and country.

Founder & Leadership
Dr. Fatou Bin Ndure, Founder
Salama Foundation was founded by Dr. Fatou Bin Ndure, a physician and healthcare professional with experience spanning clinical medicine, patient safety, pharmacovigilance, and clinical research. Her healthcare experience and connection to The Gambia shaped a vision for an organization that would not only provide assistance but also help develop sustainable healthcare capacity.
Through Salama Foundation, that vision is focused on creating greater access to quality healthcare and helping bring modern diagnostic and treatment capabilities closer to the communities that need them.
