The planned Salama Health Center in Brufut, The Gambia, is the flagship vision of Salama Foundation.
Our Vision
Our goal is to develop a modern healthcare facility that combines compassionate, affordable healthcare with appropriate medical technology, diagnostics, inpatient capacity, and progressively expanded treatment services. We envision a center designed not simply to treat illness, but also to strengthen healthcare capacity within the community.
Bringing Advanced Care Closer to Home
For some patients, obtaining certain medical investigations or treatments can involve traveling outside The Gambia. Overseas healthcare can create significant financial and logistical challenges. Our long-term goal is to progressively build local capacity so more patients can receive the diagnosis and treatment they need within The Gambia.
Modern Medical Equipment
Salama Foundation aims to progressively equip the health center with appropriate modern medical technology based on patient needs, clinical safety, trained personnel, maintenance requirements, and long-term sustainability. Our goal is not simply to acquire equipment, but to build the expertise and infrastructure necessary to use and maintain it effectively.
Advanced Diagnostics
As the health center grows, our goal is to progressively expand diagnostic capabilities in laboratory medicine, medical imaging, maternal and fetal assessment, cardiovascular evaluation, chronic disease monitoring, and disease screening.
Expanded Treatment Services
Our long-term ambition is to develop treatment capabilities for selected conditions for which access may currently be limited. Services will be developed progressively based on healthcare needs, expertise, infrastructure, safety, sustainability, and partnerships.
Planned Inpatient Services
The center is envisioned to include inpatient beds for appropriate patients who require continued observation, monitoring, evaluation, and treatment, supporting a more comprehensive model of care beyond outpatient consultations.
Future Growth
Future development may include expanded diagnostics, additional inpatient capacity, specialized clinical services, enhanced medical technology, professional training, and partnerships with healthcare institutions in The Gambia and internationally.
Our ultimate goal: Bring more of the healthcare people need closer to home.
